Benjamin Tuček (born 1972, Brno), screenwriter and film directorAt the Film and TV School of Academy of Performing Arts In Prague he studied screenwriting and dramaturgy. As assistant director he took part in the making of Gedeon’s film Return of the Idiot (1999). In 2002 he made his feature-length debut based on his screenplay, Girlie, was awarded with the Czech Lion award (for Best Actress of Jana Hubinská) and at international film festivals. His documentary film production includes the films The Magnificent Man in His Flying Machine (1997), Comedy (2001), Human Step (2008), United Islands of Prague (2009). He also makes „making of” films and music clips, writes books – Very Short Waves (2009). He plays with the discore group The Ritchie Success. He co-wrote the screenplay for Najbrt’s feature-length debut Champions (2004). Together with Marek Najbrt and Robert Geisler he wrote the screenplay for Protektor (2009), which won six Czech Lions (including the awards for the best film and screenplay) and collected trophies from several international festivals. He also worked with Marek Najbrt and Robert Geisler on the screenplay of the TV series Kinetic Encyclopaedia of the Universe (1999 - 2001) and the first TV series from the production of HBO, In Therapy.
