'Hugh Purcell has been Head of Studies at EsoDoc since its beginning in 2004. Before that he made documentary films and radio programmes for the BBC for 25 years and was Managing Editor of the BBC TV Documentary department. Then he ran his own company called CAFE and made international co-productions for another 5 years, before teaching documentary film in India, Cuba and Denmark.
