Isabel Arrate Fernandez is a Dutch film executive and documentary funding expert who has managed the IDFA Bertha Fund since 2002. Before joining IDFA, she worked in festival production, programming, and film financing after completing film studies at the University of Amsterdam. Under her leadership, the fund became an internationally respected institution supporting more than five hundred documentary projects and organizations across Africa, Asia, Eastern Europe, the Middle East, and Latin America. Since 2025, she has also served as Director of IDFA, one of the world’s leading documentary film festivals.
