Matthew Syrett is an award winning documentary producer and story producer. He is best known for producing the Academy Award winning movie Freeheld and being the lead story producer for the Netflix Doc Series Merpeople. As an independent filmmaker, he has created Oscar, Emmy, and Sundance winning films, which have played on HBO, PBS, Cinemax, Netflix, and TNT. Beyond his work in film and television, Syrett has worked as a Vice President at Grey Advertising, a Senior Product Manager at IMDb (Amazon), a co-founder of the financial services company Marstone, and the VP of Product for Rakuten USA. He is the inventor on four US patents including three in the entertainment field as sole inventor. He is presently a screenwriting fellow at the American Film Institute in Los Angeles.
