Michael Ginthoer was born and raised in Austria. After majoring in philosophy and history he went on to become a yellow press writer, but soon left the profession and moved to Los Angeles. Here he shot his debut feature Zen and Zero (a surf film) to much ciritcal acclaim. Since his return to Austria he lives and works in Vienna as a film director, editor, writer and producer.
