When the colony of cormorants established in Curonian Spit, they were inscribed into Lithuanian Red Book of Endangered Species. However, in 30 years the number of birds increased enormously and they became region enemy No. 1. Cormorants take part of fishermen’s catch; expand their possessions in the old woods, and men feel threatened. How many birds would be just enough to ensure they are not “dangerous” to consumerist people community? Cormorants’ colony-zone is a splendid example of the complicated relationship of men and his surroundings.
