Synopse
The act of expressing through words is also an unfortunate act. In the documentary essay « Speeches begin with a brief pause for breath », the voice of the narrator will support the entire film, and will reveal to us how a speech is full of solemnity and formality. On the other hand, the subject -political speech- is also the one of the most unreliable and untrustworthy forms of linguistic expression today, yet is also the most insistent that the listener must believe in. They all follow a pattern. Thus, present in this film are characters in the process of creating power. Sometimes they enter into dialogue with the narrator about some of their personal thoughts regarding this process. The narrator’s words will balance the visuals, which will be more abstract. The game of words, the vocalization, the body language and the solemnity will be subtly represented by visual metaphors, which will comment on the pointless of the solemnity today. Why make the unfortunate acts a ceremony?
