Born in 1967. Author, director and film producer. Studied economics, politics, history and Romanic languages in Cologne, Buenos Aires and Córdoba. Longer stays abroad and study abroad in the US and Argentina. Producer, director and author of successful documentary films such as "12 Tangos - Adios Buenos Aires", "Chandani and Her Elephant" (German Film Award for "Best Children's Film" 2011), "Sound of Home" and "Beltracchi - The Art of Counterfeiting" (German Film Award as "Best Documentary" 2014). Arne Birkenstock is a member of the German Film Academy and the European Film Academy, the European Documentary Network (EDN) and the Documentary Film Working Group (agdok). He is involved in the advisory board of KunstSalon e.V. and in the board of trustees of AFS Interkulturelle Begegnungen.
