Grigor Harutyunyan was born on april 14, 1950 in Yerevan. He graduated from the faculty of Culture at the Yerevan State pedagogical institut named after K.Abovyan in 1980.
From 1981 to 1984 he worked as a director at the YEREVAN Film Studio. In 1987 G. Harutyunyan started to work at HAYFILM film studio , and then at HAYK Documentary Film Studio where he continues to work to this day. He is the director of more than 20 documentaries.
