Afsun Moshiry was born in Shiraz, Iran and moved to Germany in 1989. Growing up in Baden Württemberg, she completed a Hons. Bachelor of Arts degree at Northumbria University in Uk. At Media Atelier in Berlin and Mainz she started working on a Series with a focus on contemporary sound art. She worked at Int. Short Film Festival Berlin (Interfilm) on the selection committee and curated her first film program for EICTV which screened as part of Interfilm with Maike Mia Höhne as a guest. In 2017, she moved back to Iran and has since that period worked as a curator and producer on film programs and cultural events in partnership with organisations such as Goethe Institut, Berlinale Shorts, Kurzfilmtage Oberhausen, Int. short film Festival Berlin (Interfilm), Arsenal für Film und Videokunst e.V. Forum Expanded, the cultural department of German Embassy, Austrian Cultural Forum, Int. Fajr Film Festival, Art & Experience Institute, Int. Children and Youth Film Festival Isfahan, and Int. Short film Fest Tehran. In 2018 she founded Film Focus to teach and curate film programs for audiences with restricted access to the international film markets.
