Born in Bucharest in 1973, Gabriel Tempea studied physics in Bucharest and Vienna, subsequently working in research and engineering. Between 2002 and 2003 he attended the School for Artistic Photography in Vienna. In 2015 he graduated in Film from the Vienna Academy of Fine Arts, where he studied documentary filmmaking with Harun Farocki and Thomas Heise. His first full feature documentary "Faptele sunt cunoscute" (aka "Notorious Deeds") premiered at the Jihlava International Documentary Film Festival 2016.
