Born in 2006 in Saint-Denis (France, 93), the PCMMO-Panorama des cinémas du Maghreb et du Moyen Orient is an international movie festival rooted in the Parisian region’s cultural landscape.
The festival takes place during the spring, out of the spring holidays and before the Cannes festival: its dates vary between March and May depending on the year. It lasts about three weeks, with a festive launch at the movie theater l’Écran in Saint Denis, the festival’s cradle and center, then screenings in various places in Paris and Seine-Saint-Denis.
At its creation in 2006, the festival’s goal is to promote Morocco’s cinema. Two years later, in 2008, the Panorama des cinémas du Maroc becomes the Panorama des cinémas du Maghreb, willing to open its borders, hence allowing movies from all parts of Northern Africa to make it to the festival’s programming. Always wanting to share more movies from the Arabic world, the staff decides to integrate movies from the Middle East in 2012, for the 7th edition.
