Key industry events at the East Doc Platform
East Doc Forum
As EDP’s flagship event, the East Doc Forum provides a high-profile pitching platform for feature-length documentaries and factual series in development or early production. It is where innovative ideas meet potential co-producers, partners, and financiers.
East Doc Market
This curated marketplace offers tailored one-on-one meetings between documentary creators and decision-makers, supporting projects in development, production, or post-production. It is an essential networking hub designed to foster meaningful collaborations.
Czech Docs: Coming Soon...
A showcase of the most promising new Czech documentary films, presented to leading festival selectors, international sales agents, distributors, and the general public.
East Silver Market

Open programme
Beyond its core industry activities, the East Doc Platform offers a rich open programme designed for the general public, documentary enthusiasts, and emerging professionals. Each year, this accompanying programme presents a wide range of lectures, discussions, and special screenings that engage with contemporary topics and trends in documentary filmmaking. Recent edition has featured a masterclass by Claas Danielsen, former Director of DOK Leipzig, a panel discussion surrounding the film Mr. Nobody Against Putin, and a thought-provoking conversation on archives, ethics, and artificial intelligence. The programme has also included a lecture by publicity expert Mirjam Wiekenkamp focusing on TV and festival promotion, as well as virtual reality screenings and other interactive events. These public sessions provide a valuable opportunity to learn from leading industry figures and explore the creative and ethical dimensions of documentary storytelling.
Awards
Selected projects presented at the East Doc Platform are eligible for the East Doc Platform Award. This prestigious recognition is given by an expert jury to the best project in development or production. The award includes a financial prize intended to support further development of the documentary project.
In addition to the main award, several other recognitions are granted annually to support and highlight outstanding documentary works. These include the Silver Eye Award for the best film from the East Silver Market, the Golden Funnel and Ex Oriente Fine Cut Award for the most significant progress and promising cuts in the Ex Oriente workshops; and the Cut thru the Noise Award, providing tailored consultancy on release and distribution strategy. Traditionally, key partners such as Czech Television and HBO also present their own awards, including financial support and broadcasting opportunities. Further prizes from international institutions, such as Sunny Side of the Doc or DOK Leipzig, enhance the visibility and development potential of selected projects.
