We are thrilled to announce that the East Doc Platform (EDP) has been selected as one of only three European markets to host the Council of Europe’s newly established Series Co-Production Development Award in 2025. This prestigious award, offering €50,000 to the winning documentary series project selected by a jury, represents a significant milestone for EDP and its position on the European market scene.

"We are very excited to be among the events that will host the Council of Europe's Series Co-Production Development Awards in 2025. This is a great opportunity for all producers to pitch their documentary series to the East Doc Platform, and we look forward to this cooperation," says Ivana Pauerová Miloševičová, Board Member of the Institute of Documentary Film, the organiser of EDP.

Call for Projects: Open Until November 15, 2024

With this partnership, we are further motivated to encourage producers of documentary series to apply for the East Doc Platform. The call for projects is open until November 15, 2024. This is a unique chance for documentary producers to be considered for the development support offered through EDP and this substantial new award from the Council of Europe.

About Ex Oriente Film and EDP Series Program

The Series Co-Production Development Award complements our ongoing commitment to the growth of series formats through our Ex Oriente Film program, which already provides extensive training and development support to documentary filmmakers. As part of the Ex Oriente initiative, the upcoming session will continue focusing on innovative approaches in documentary storytelling, including series formats.

" We have been supporting the development of docuseries for several years and launched the Ex Oriente Series, our first training program, supporting filmmakers in developing their projects into documentary series format 2 years ago. We are excited about the Council of Europe´s decision to have the East Doc Platform host the award. We believe it will significantly impact and strengthen this segment in documentary production and storytelling," says Anna Kaslová Ex Oriente Film and East Doc Forum Manager.
