The documentary The Trial - The State of Russia vs Oleg Sentsov (dir. Askold Kurov) captures the trial with Oleg Sentsov, a Ukrainian filmmaker, Euromaidan activist and native of Crimea. After the Russian annexation of Crimea, he became an active opponent of the occupation. In May 2014, he was arrested by the Russian security service, charged with planned terrorist attacks and transported to Moscow. After over a year in custody, he was sentenced to 20 years in prison, despite the fact that the testimonies were given under duress and evidence was insufficient. Sentsov never pled guilty.
On May 14, 2018 Oleg Sentsov announced an indefinite hunger strike demanding the release of all 64 Ukrainian political prisoners convicted in Russia, denouncing their torture and restrictions in the access to a lawyer and medical care.

Along with other Czech film institutions, IDF requested an immediate release of Oleg Sentsov and organized a screening of Sentsov's film Gamer during KVIFF. Details are here.
The university café Družba in Pilsen will host the screening of Kurov's documentary on Thursday, July 26, from 7 pm. The Ukrainian cultural attaché Taťjana Okopna has accepted IDF's invitation and will attend the discussion.
