Central Bus Station | dir. Tomáš Elšík | prod. Frame Films | CZ | 2018 | 78 min.

Central Bus Station is one of the biggest and at the same time, one of the most pathetic stations in the world. Its architect's visionary plans for a building that will engulf its visitors turned into an endless maze of corridors. The gift for Tel Aviv’s citizens now serves as a haven for refugees from all over the world. Yonatan has been guiding people through for 17 years already, showing people, who follow, the dark side of the station. He discovers communities in places that were supposed to stay hidden.

Be sure not to miss other Czech and Slovak films available worldwide in the online catalogue of KineDok. Just use the code Kine2019_Dok2020 and enjoy the watching! Here are few films we recommend:

Daniel's World (dir. Veronika Lišková, 2014)
Daniel is 25 years old. He studies at Academy of Literature and writes books. His stories are about a man who loves little boys. Once his friends asked him: Are you the pedophile you are writing about? Daniel stayed silent for a while and then he said: Yes, that's me… Daniel was the only member of the Czech pedophile community who decided to come out publicly. He felt it was another necessary step on his way to overcoming his fear.

Normal Autistic Film (dir. Miroslav Janek, 2016)
A foremost Czech documentarist with a unique authorial vision challenges us once and for all to stop perceiving autism as a medical diagnosis and try to understand it as a fascinating way of thinking that's often maddeningly difficult to decipher. Because who's to determine what's normal - living in a constant rush while disregarding the absurdity of modern life, or wistfully seeking order...

The Last Self-portrait (dir. Marek Kuboš, 2018)
Slovak director Marek Kuboš has not shot a film in 13 years. His first film ever – a student exercise at film school – was a self-portrait. The circle is closed, the source of creativity has seemingly dried up. All that is left to do in the last self-portrait is to clean up after oneself, to recapitulate one’s successes and failures, and to bid farewell to one’s protagonists.

The White World According to Daliborek (dir. Vít Klusák, 2017)
A stylized portrait of a Czech neo-Nazi, who hates his life but doesn't know what to change about it. Corrosively absurd and starkly chilling in equal measure, this tragicomedy investigates the radical worldview of 'decent, ordinary people.' And just when it seems that its message can't get any more urgent, the film culminates in a totally uncompromising way.
