Synopsis

The documentary by Pavel Štingl focuses on the upcoming realization of the equestrian statue of the margrave Jost of Luxembourg in the Moravian metropolis, Brno. The three-year-long dialogue in front of the camera covering the works on the 8 meter statue of a knight – symbol of courage, gradually turned into a spontaneous reflection of the present-day sculpting art and the general perception of the role of statues within the public space. At the same time, the film, using original visual ideas of Miroslav Janek, is a generational statement reflecting the times, investors and the cultural policy of the state. Its last scene shows the reaction of the public to the new work of art placed at the Moravian Square.
