Synopsis
In the 1920s 200 Armenian Genocide survivors led by poet Hrant Nazaryants founded the village Nor Arax in the countryside of Bari, where they established a small carpet-weaving factory soon, and the carpets made in the factory were well-known not only in Italy, but outside its borders as well.
Hrant Nazaryants was born in Constantinople, studied in Italy, France, he took a great interest in symbolist writers. Currently there exists Hrant Nazaryants studies center in Bari, headed by Carlo Coppola. There is a school named after H. Nazaryants in Casamassima, where he spent the last years of his life.
