Expedition Libya - Into the Heart of the Sahara

Expedice Libye - Do hlubin Sahary

Directing: Pavel Jirák

Synopsis

A documentary travelogue about the expedition of several adventurers to the heart of the Sahara. The film disrupts the traditional notion of Sahara as the place where there's nothing but sand dunes. You will see the thousand-year-old oasis of Ghadames, rightly called the pearl of the desert. You will meet the Tuareg face to face, you will discover the amazing sceneries of the Akasus mountains at the border with Algiers and Niger where they have lived until today. The film will take you to the vast sand seas and plains, with Fata Morgana for an only companion, to finally get to the very heart of the Sahara, hundreds of kilometres away from civilization, stumbling upon the forsaken remains of paradise from the times when the desert used to be green and full of life. The Berber architecture, beautiful salt lakes in the middle of the desert, canyons as former coasts of ancient seas, blinding white sands of the Rebiana Sand Seas, drawings of the inhabitants from the Stone Age and ancient monuments in the North of the country are nothing but a top of the iceberg.
