Synopsis
Pawel Kuczynski uses his autobiographical and often humorous documentary camera to probe humanity's existential fears, interweaving his daily experiences with the themes of Nietzsche, in Monday to Monday, and Dionysus, in Tuesday to Tuesday (both episodes are in post-production.)
Now, in Wednesday to Wednesday, Pawel turns his focus to Renaissance painter Albrecht Durer, who explored apocalypse, death and beauty, and Andrzej Dudek-Durer: a living Polish performance artist who believes he is the reincarnation of the German master.
The film examines the possibility that Andrzej's preposterous claims could be true. If so, wouldn't they ease our anxieties over death and the self's limitations? A revelatory and infuriating encounter with Andrzej ultimately leads Pawel to the mysteries contained in the 500-year-old works of the original Durer, while casual encounters along the way attempt to penetrate reality and uncover insights into our earthly existence.
