Synopsis
"Are you home now?" is a short film that deals with questioning trauma, that is, the consequences of a traumatic event on an individual. Harassment, whether in the physical or virtual world, is an increasingly common element of reality, and the experiences of victims are often trivialized in the media language. This title puts the focus not on the event itself, but on the mental consequence and the mark it leaves, and with which the victim must deal. By fragmenting one's own body and intimacy, which no longer belongs to the individual, but is positioned as exposed and vulnerable, the film plays with fragments of experiences and the current state. The female body in the media sense is very often objectified, and its details are described through literature as a space of subjection,
submissiveness, tenderness and fragility. "Are you home now?" breaks it down to portray discomfort, trauma, anger and fear.
Virtual harassment, as well as unfortunately any type of violence against women in the media, is trivialized, and the perpetrators go without sanctions and are often victimized through the process (if it occurs), thereby blaming the victim. The author therefore uses her own experience in order not to "take over" the media narrative, documenting her own trauma and the consequences it leaves behind, in order not to raise awareness of this type of violence.
