Synopsis

An eminent Czech painter and writer Josef Čapek allegedly died in April 1945 during a typhoid outbreak in the Bergen-Belsen concentration camp. Some credible witnesses claimed, however, that they saw him after the end of the war. His wife Jarmila Čapková set out to search for him between 1945-1947 in Northern Germany.

On the background of war-shattered Europe we recapitulate the story of a great amorous affair, bitter disenchantment brought about by marriage and newly awakened love. It is a strong story of personalities who co-created modern Czech culture of the 1st half of 20th century.
