Tristia – A Black Sea Odyssey

Tristia - Eine Schwarzmeer-Odyssee

Directing: Stanislaw Mucha

Synopsis

Stanislaw Mucha takes you on a journey along the coasts of seven countries. Landscapes extend between Crimea and the Caucasus, the Turkish northern coast and the Danube Delta, whose magic is unique. The Black Sea is a place of contradictions: Orient and Occident, civilization and barbarism, a playground of war and retreat. The Black Sea, once named by poets "The Fortune-giving Sea", has been called “The Sea of Blood” in the bible, lately stood in the shadows of world politics – and as a border region that has mostly not been visited by tourists. After a fifty-year slumber, protected by border guards and restricted areas of the world powers, now shrills the alarm clock of Capitalism. The film will not only be cheerful entertainment, but also an irretrievable historical document. With his usual humorous glance, Stanislaw Mucha discovers a region, which previously was hidden from our attention.
