Black Box Foundation was amongst the first film companies to make documentaries about the changes in the political and social system in Hungary and other ex-communist countries. The organisation was founded in 1987, and during the last 15 years they have recorded 4.000 hours on video about ethnic minorities, discriminated groups, mentally or physically handycapped people, as well as many films and television programs about the changes in social and political life. They founded the Romany Media School in 2001, presently attended by 14 students. The staff of the Black Box Foundation was awarded the Hungarian Pulitzer Prize in 1993.
