János Szász was born in Budapest in l958. He studied drama and stage direction at the University of Theater and Film, Budapest and spent four important years at the National Theater Budapest. For the stage, he directed "Ghosts" by Henrik Ibsen, "The Deer King" by Carlo Gozzi and "A Streetcar Named Desire" by Tennessee Williams. He has also directed films and TV Series. His long feature films are: Don’t Disturb (1990), Woyzeck (1994) and Witman Boys (1997). Szász also directed a documentary for the Shoa Foundation: Eyes of the Holocaust (2000), the story of the children of the holocaust never was told this way before. He recently finished his 47‘ documentary entitled Last Call-Dresden Dolls and is currently working on The Big Notebook, an adaptation of the novel “Le Grand Cahier“ written by Ágota Kristóf.
