Ondřej Provazník (b. 1978, Prague) studied journalism at the Faculty of Social Sciences, Charles University, (FSV UK) in Prague and FAMU (screenwriting and programming) in Prague. His full lenght documentary debute A town called Hermitage, (orig.title Poustevna, das ist Paradies, co-directed with Martin Dušek), a portrait of a town on the Czech-German border, was awarded as the best Czech documentary 2007 at the IDFF Jihlava 2007. It´s international premiere took place at the 31 st Goteborg film Festival 2008. The film (also coproduced by Provazník) was nominated by Czech Film Academy to European Film Awards 2009. His film Coal In The Soul (orig. title ŽENY SHR, co-directed with M.Dušek ) about two women whose lives were affected by coal, was awarded as the best Czech documentary 2010 at the Jihlava IDFF 2010. Its international premiere took place at the DocAviv film festival in May 2011. Ondřej Provazník currently works as a free-lance director and script-writer.
