Boleslaw Sulik, was born in 1929 in Torun, Poland. He was the son of a professional army officer later to be known as Gerneral Nikodem Sulik – commander of the Underground Resistance in Wilno, a prisoner in Lubianka and commander of the 5th Borderland Infantry Division.
B. Sulik spent the war years without his parents in the country, in North Eastern Poland. In 1949-50 he went to Cambrigde to study economics but did not finish the course. In 1960-61 he completed a course of film direction at the London School of Film Technique.
The late fifties find B. Sulik working as a journalist, essayist and critic, writing in both Polish and English. By the end of the sixties he is script writing and in the seventies he begins to work as a television director.
During the mid sixties and early seventies, B. Sulik regularly visits Poland. He develops close contact with both literary and film circles and works with people such as: Andrzej Wajda, Kazimierz Kutz and Jerzy Skolimowski. He is now living and working in Poland, having return and settled permanently in May 1991.
In April 1993 B. Sulik was appointed a member of the National Broadcasting Council (KRRiTV) by the Sejm (The Lower House of Polish Parliament) for a period of 6 years. In May 1995 he was elected vice-chairman and in December he became chairman.
