I See No Death
What does drone warfare look like? Since the beginning of the 21st century, new technologies have made their appearance in theatres of war. First used in external operations by the US army in the Middle East, drones made their appearance on the Ukrainian battlefield in the context of the Russian invasion of Ukraine. Although the threat comes from the sky, drones are nonetheless machines piloted by humans. The use of these new technologies has changed the way war is fought and experienced. The face of war itself has changed. The threat now comes from the sky. We know who the enemy is, but we can't see it. It has no flesh, no smell, no consistency. War is waged from behind a screen, through images, where only a black screen indicates the death of the enemy. Unique scenes from the drone battle field will be combined with deeply personal portrayal of the drone operator daily life in the basements to reflect on the new war technology impact on human psyche.
