Synopse
The pace of global consumption is accelerating in an economic model marked by cut corners and short- sighted greed. RE-CREATE is about pumping the brakes on this runaway train, rethinking the way we produce, consume and discard. We turn a lens on the destruction wrought across the globe by unfettered commerce, giving viewers a boots-on-the ground view of manmade blight that's apocalyptic in scope. These include a yawning coal mining pit so large it has displaced an entire German town and a makeshift landfill in Chile's Atacama Desert choked by a mountain of clothes so large it can be seen from space. We'll also zoom in on local heroes, including entrepreneurs reclaiming the landscape and forging a circular economy by turning trash into treasure. Their voices, and those of people calling for justice for the natives of ruined land, are small on an individual level. Together, however, they sound a clarion call. The message? Business as usual is no longer an option. If we wish to preserve the environment, we must find a way to tread lightly on the earth, even amid the bustle of modern commerce.
