
Knowledge Lab je archiv 57 masterclasses, přednášek a workshopů, které vznikly během pěti let Ex Oriente Film – vzdělávacího programu Institutu dokumentárního filmu pro dokumentární profesionály ze střední a východní Evropy. Zahrnuje vše od financování a festivalových strategií až po střih a etiku. Nahrávky odrážejí více než dvě desetiletí praktické výuky s filmaři z více než třiceti zemí, jejichž projekty se následně dostaly na festivaly IDFA, Sundance, Berlinale, Hot Docs a do vysílání u stanic jako ARTE, BBC a ZDF.
Od roku 2027 se Ex Oriente stává hybridním programem – rozšíří se na strukturovaný dvanáctiměsíční program s online mentoringem, MOOC platformou a specializovanými směry pro celovečerní filmy, seriály a XR. Knowledge Lab je jeho základ: otevřený vzdělávací obsah budovaný postupně v jednotlivých kohortách, navržený tak, aby oslovil širší evropskou dokumentární komunitu nad rámec účastníků, které každý rok vzděláváme.
