On the occasion of the launch of his book Order in Chaos. Storytelling and Editing in Documentary Film, editor Niels Pagh Andersen will share in dialogue with his colleague Maya Daisy Hawke thoughts and practical tips from their long experience of documentary film editing. The discussion is part of the IDF Industry Sessions series. It will take place live on Facebook on December 14 at 6 pm (CET) and will include a Q&A. In cooperation with Rough Cut Service.
Niels Pagh Andersen has cut more than 250 films of widely different categories. Besides his work as editor he has lectured and taught at film schools and universities around the world and as well works as dramaturgist and supervising editor. Maya Daisy Hawke is an editor who also makes and performs live cinema. Maya has edited over a dozen feature documentaries including, Cave of Forgotten Dreams (Werner Herzog), the upcoming Poetry of Cowboys (2022), and an undisclosed CNN Films project (2022). She Executive Produced After a Revolution (which premiered at IDFA 2021) and is a consulting editor with Rough Cut Service. She was a 2018 Sundance Nonfiction Directors Residency Fellow, an Advisor at the Sundance Edit and Story Lab 2018, an Advisor at the Sundance New Frontiers Story Lab 2019 and 2020, an Advisor to the Sundance Art of Editing Fellowship 2020 and a 2021/22 Sundance Art of Practice fellow.
