KineDok has selected two more award-winning documentaries and made them available to you online for free on their VOD until December 3. This time it's a poetic essay about the changing Bratislava Lines and a documentary about the largest pawnshop in southern Poland The Pawnshop.
Both films are available from any of the KineDok partner countries (Czech Republic, Slovakia, Romania, Croatia, Hungary and Georgia) and you need a voucher to watch them for free, which you can request at films@kinedok.net.
LINES (Barbora Sliepková, 2021, Slovakia)
How is the city Bratislava changing? In her documentary essay, director Barbora Sliepková captures the local urban growth, where the poetics of everyday life and portraits of local inhabitants present a socially critical account of the city's contemporary transformations.
THE PAWNSHOP (Łukasz Kowalski, 2022, Poland)
Jola and Wiesiek, an extraordinary couple, run the biggest pawnshop in the south of Poland. Profitable in the past, today the business only generates loses. To save it, they decide to organize a grand spring sale.
In addition to the planned online screenings of films from KineDok's existing catalogue, they have decided to expand their VOD with brand new documentaries. Each month two selected films will be available for free online, the plan for the next months is as follows:
December 18 - 31, 2023
January 22 - February 4, 2023
February 19 - March 3, 2024
March 18 - 31, 2024
The names of the specific films will not be released until that month, so keep an eye on their communication channels to make sure you don't miss anything.
