The East Doc Platform (EDP) returns to Prague from March 13-19, 2025, at the French Institute, organized by the Institute of Documentary Film in collaboration with the One World Film Festival. As the largest co-production, funding, and distribution platform dedicated to Central and East European documentaries, EDP is the essential meeting point for filmmakers and industry leaders worldwide. With the 2025 theme Still Human?, the event will spark conversations about the evolving role of technology and empathy in storytelling, offering a space to engage with pressing global topics.
Theme for 2025: Still Human?
Subtheme: Are You Still Here?
This year’s theme, Still Human?, delves into the evolving relationship between humanity and technology. It raises questions about identity and empathy in a world increasingly shaped by artificial intelligence and digital overload. As AI rapidly advances, the documentary field faces both opportunities and challenges—from fears of dehumanization and job displacement to the potential of AI as a powerful tool for storytelling and societal good.
The theme also touches on the growing desensitization to global crises and human suffering. In a world where tragedies are reduced to mere statistics, we ask: How connected are we to each other? How much of our humanity have we retained? The subtheme Are You Still Here? echoes the familiar prompt on streaming platforms, urging us to reflect on our presence, awareness, and engagement with the world around us.
