We warmly invite all friends of documentary film and literature, as well as anyone looking for good company, who will be in Prague next week, to join us for a festive evening. The Institute of Documentary Film and the publishing house Větrné mlýny are hosting a joint Christmas party, this year accompanied by the official launch of the book VACHEK. The event will take place on Tuesday, 9 December, from 6 PM at Kino Atlas & Café Atlas rostlin (Prague 8). Admission is free.
The book VACHEK presents the literary work of film director, teacher, poet and painter Karel Vachek (1940–2020). Its core consists of unproduced screenplays, extensive literary collages, a selection of poetry, notes, reflections and lectures. These are followed by texts written by Vachek’s wife Dagmar and his sister Ludmila. The visual appendix showcases artwork created by members of the entire Vachek family, including Karel’s brother Petr.
Among the guests at the launch will be Karel Vachek Jr., editor Miloš Kameník, Vachek’s colleagues, former students and representatives of Větrné mlýny. After the official programme, Café Atlas rostlin will host an informal gathering and an improvised vinyl-based disco featuring records from Karel Vachek’s personal collection. The book will be available throughout the evening at a special discounted price.
