Czech documentaries and filmmakers at international film events

Steam on the River by Filip Remunda and Robert Kirchhoff will be screened (on 03.03. / Friday, 17:00 - 19:00 Theatre 3/ Kaptol Cinema Boutique) in Biography Dox Section of ZagrebDox program.

The following Czech-coproduced titles will be screened at 19th Thessaloniki Documentary Festival: A Hole in the Head by Robert Kirchhoff (SK/CZ, 2016), Houston, We Have a Problem! (dir. Ž.Virc, SI/HR/CZ/DE/QA, 2016) and screening as part of the Vitaly Mansky Tribute the titles Pipeline (RU/CZ/DE, 2013), Under the Sun (RU/LV/DE/CZ/KP, 2015), Broadway. Black Sea (DE/RU/CZ, 2002).

Children Online (CZ, 2017) directed by Kateřina Hager and produced by Czech Television and Bohemian Productions will have its international premiere in March at the CPH:DOX, Copenhagen International Documentary Film Festival 2017 ( March 16-26, 2017) in the Kids section. Also screened at the Politics section will be the The Trial: The State of Russia vs Oleg Sentsov (dir. Askold Kurov, EE/CZ/PL) coproduced by Czech Television. CPH:FORUM, international financing and co-production event, includes Czech-Slovak-Polish coproduction project Pepik the Czech Goes to Poland In a Quest for Love of God (dir. F. Remunda and V. Klusák, CZ/SK/PL) in their exciting line-up.

The 17. goEast - Festival of Central and Eastern European Film with Country Focus: Czech Cinema Now! will be taking a close look at the film scene of the Czech Republic with a diverse selection of current fiction features and documentaries, a panel discussion and a film poster exhibition at the Stadtmuseum am Markt in Wiesbaden. Full programme will be announced in the beginning of April, among confirmed documentaries: FC Roma, Mallory, The Dangerous World of Doctor Doleček, Normal Autistic Film. The country focus is organised in co-operation with the Institute of Documentary Film and the Czech Film Center.

Czech participant at EAVE Workshop 2017. Based on the partnership between Ex Oriente Film and EAVE Producers Workshop 2017, scholarship has been granted to Czech producer Pavla Janoušková Kubečková from nutprodukce. Pavla will participate in the workshop in 2017. EAVE, European Audiovisual Entrepreneurs, is one of the leading training and development providers for producers in Europe, renowned for its EAVE Producers Workshop.

Festival Czeskie Dokumenty Proszę! will take place 31.3 - 3. 4. 2017 in Muranów Cinema, Warsaw Poland. Showcase of selection of Czech contemporary documentaries is expected to attract hundreds of spectators. Screenings of 7 feature docs will be accompanied by debates with their directors and Polish experts. The program and more information will be published on March 3. Koudelka Shooting Holy Land screened worldwide. Film directed by Gilad Baram about the legendary Magnum photographer, had its Czech Theatrical Premier in January 2017. Fascinating dialogue between Baram’s cinematography and Koudelka’s still photographs unfolds, as Baram places the photographer in his own breathtaking compositions. In 2016 the film screened at over 20 festivals (i.e. Brussels Art Film Festival, Trondheim Dokumentar Festival, Fotofabrica, Pacific Meridian IFF, Galway Film Festival, FILAF, Docaviv IDFF, DOKfest München) and in January 2017 was awarded the SkyArte Award at Trieste FF (more at www.koudelka-film.com).
