CZECH DOCS

Evening(s) with Czech Documentary

13. 9. 2017

Together with the documentary VOD portal DAFilms.com, we invite you to watch a selection of the Czech documentaries from the past year. On the occasion of the event Evening with Czech Docs, we have prepared a curated program that you can stream until September 24th.

In the past twelve months, many documentaries of various genres were made in the Czech Republic. Director Vít Klusák made two portraits of two very different people. The World According to Daliborek shows a neo-Nazi whose attitudes have roots in his social situation and frustration. On the other hand, Matrix AB shows Andrej Babiš and his tactics of transforming the citizens’ frustration by classic politicians into votes for his political movement ANO. Politics is also discussed in the Czech Journal series; the part entitled The Little Mole and Laozi shows the megalomaniac visit of the Chinese president to Prague. Helena’s Law deals with underground mafia and police officer Helena Kahnová who broke up the Berdych Gang in the 1990s.

For the fans of Institute of Documentary Film, the portal offers a discount voucher for monthly subscription, which can be used until October 13th (code: VecerCZDoku2017).

The aim of the Evening with Czech Docs is to allow producers to present their upcoming documentary projects to film industry professionals, media and the general public. The audience has an opportunity to learn about new Czech documentaries directly from their directors and producers. This annual event also includes preview screening of a feature-length Czech documentary Mamma from Prison.

The Evening with Czech Docs has been organised by the Institute of Documentary Film in cooperation with the Czech Film Center since 2005.
