This year’s experts include the Austrian filmmaker Andreas Horvath, Syrian producers Diana El Jeiroudi and Orwa Nyrabia (their film Return to Homs won the Grand Jury Prize at the 2014 Sundance Film Festival), Danish sound designer Peter Albrechtsen, French producer Christine Camdessus, marketing specialist Daniel Saltzwedel, sales agent Maëlle Guenegues of CAT & Docs, editor Yael Bitton, German attorney Stefan Rüll, Russian filmmaker Dmitrii Kalashnikov, Norwegian producer Kristine Ann Skaret and journalist Saša Uhlová. Lead tutors include EDN’s Head of Studies Mikael Opstrup, filmmaker and producer Filip Remunda and filmmaker Ivana Pauerová Miloševićová. Members of the public are invited to attend a broad slate of inspiring lectures on documentary film.

The second masterclass takes place on Thursday, October 26, with the Russian filmmaker Dmitrii Kalashnikov who will discuss his film The Road Movie, a feature documentary compiled of found dashcam footage shot by Russians,” adds Kristyna Balaban, Ex Oriente Film Manager.

KineDok
Screening and discussion at the Church of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross / Wed Oct 25, 6 p.m.
KineDok screenings are always popular with film fans. Throughout the year, KineDok brings films to unusual venues in the Czech Republic and 7 European countries, along with discussions attended by filmmakers and other guests. On October 25 at 6 p.m., a similar event will take place at Jihlava’s Church of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross. It features the documentary film Tourism! that captures the ambivalent attitude of Croatians towards the annual influx of tourists. “I’m happy that KineDok shows that people enjoy documentary films in site-specific distribution. It is mainly thanks to the quality of the films but, especially, thanks to the added value of being able to discuss the issues relevant to the films,” says Bohdan Bláhovec, KineDok Manager.
