Far too often, dramaturgy is used as a mechanical model, not focusing on film's most important power, to tell in emotional curves, in between the words, in the pause, images and sound. With the starting point in his own work, Niels Pagh Andersen talks about how to control the emotional curve in a film and find the right balance between the plot and the emotional logic of a film. Niels shows clips from the two films he edited - Joshua Oppenheimer's The Act of Killing and The Look of Silence and discusses his editing approach. The masterclass is hosted by the documentary expert Iikka Vehkalahti.
