Read our statement: "We would like to support a project that is exploring the role of women in contemporary society. Challenging the traditions and breaking the stereotypes, the young girl would like to follow her dream to become a veterinarian despite the traditional patriarchal views that run in her family, as well as society. It is important to support such courageous voices that are fighting the prejudices and gender role stereotypes rooted deep in the Armenian society. The East Doc Market Award goes to Fight by Lilit Movsisyan."

In a conservative Armenian family, a 16-year old Karine dreams to become a veterinarian, but her father, who is a well-known dog-fighter, is against her dream. Karine’s destiny is one amongst thousands. How can girls grab their freedom in countries that are deeply rooted on patriarchal values?
