True Story, episode 5: Wolves at the Borders

In Martin Páv's Wolves at the Borders the fight between Man vs. Nature and our role in the ecosystem continues, and in this True Story interview, Martin and Nicole discuss culture clash, ecology and how we can all learn to talk about difficult topics.

The film was developed within the Ex Oriente Film workshop 2018, got Special Mention at the East Doc Platform 2019 and currently is part of the East Silver Caravan. It had a World Premiere at Visions du Réel 2020 and got Special Mention in the Czech Joy competition at Ji.hlava IDFF 2020. On December 12, the film will be screened in the section Homeland at FilmFestival Cottbus.

Wolves are back! Having been exterminated in the Broumov region in the Czech Republic more than two hundred years ago, wolves have been slowly returning to the countryside and changing the lives of the locals. The documentary “Wolves at the Borders” looks at the contradictory reactions to their arrival: while for some people they offer hope of making the nature healthier, others see them only as enemies killing helpless farm animals who cannot be effectively protected. Are we able to coexist with wolves and with each other?
