Dora gordine Ars Gratia Artis

Directing: Annaleena Piel Linna

Synopsis

Documentary about sculptress Dora Gordine, an elusive, yet crucial figure in the history of sculpture. Lauded by the critics as the world’s most talented female sculptor of the 1930/1940, Gordine was raised and trained in Estonia, rose to fame in Paris, worked herself into art history books in the Far East and finally settled in London - there was no stopping this insatiable Russian Jew. From presumably humble beginnings, Gordine went on to infiltrate the English aristocracy via marriage of convenience to the son of an Earl. The documentary explores this masterfully choreographed life through its dramatic lows and decadent highs, unearthing shocking secrets and shedding light on truly glorious art.
