Synopsis
Klara's, Dino's and the Likic family's lives are marked by daily routine and the constant search for work. Having prospered in times of the Austro-Hungarian Monarchy and during Titoism the small former mining community Vareš today suffers from stagnation. The city is struggling to recover from the aftermath of the Bosnian War, even 20 years later. Every second citizen fit for work cannot find employment. Wages are far below the existential minimum. Nevertheless in Vareš intimate narratives, memories, hopes and dreams are closely interwoven. It still means home to its inhabitants but also to those who left.
