Missing Portrait

This documentary is about a primary school teacher who, besides teaching, was the only photographer in the village photographing the same school for forty years. His story begins in 1960. Imposed by the lost memories of his missing father in the WWII, whom he has neither ever met or seen a picture of, and deprived from any childhood pictures, he decides to buy a camera at the age of 17. He is somehow hoping for the return of his childhood memories, hoping to heal an intimate pain, reflecting a feeling of altruism as he begins to photograph children, adults, and people of all ages in the village and, especially, in the school. Transforming his bedroom into a darkroom, he begins his work as a self taught photographer and photographing people soon becomes his passion.
