In the Footsteps of Middendorff

In the middle of the 19th century, A. T. von Middendorff, a Baltic-German scientist, led an expedition to the northernmost place of the Eurasian continent, the Taimyr Peninsula. Being equally adept in ethnology, botany and zoology, Middendorff made numerous scientific discoveries, establishing himself firmly among famous explorers of the North. 160 years later, Middendorff's journey is re-traced by a team of Estonian scientists, with the goal of recording changes in the region since the time of Mittendorf's expedition.
