Synopsis

The Sayano-Shushenskaya Hydro Electric Station is the most powerful of its kind in Russia and the sixth most powerful in the world. In 2009 at the Hydro Electric Station one of the largest technological catastrophes in the world claiming 75 lives. And although no precise causes for the accident have as yet to be established, those engineers accused of causing the accident remain in jail.  
The disaster has shown that the Soviet legacy is still firmly established in the mindset of people, many who still live in the past and fear the future.  The deterioration of equipment, the backwardness of technology, corruption, kangaroo courts, state propaganda based on a ‘back to the USSR’ cult, herald new man-made industrial disasters.
