Let There Be More Light

Directing: Stephan Schwarz,  Erika Eisenhut,  Michael Fellner

Synopsis

The film is the native light of passion of a human being consumed by his core. It connects the inner world of experience with the external world of perception and is likewise a portrait of a musician. There is a tangible dependency between colour, light and sound - fragments of spoken language and music create the rhythm of the film. Sound becomes visual and vice versa - approaches to the philosophical concepts of phenomenology. "Let there be more light" catches the musician Woolf in his working process - oftentimes it seems things aren't working out. Nevertheless, he remains steadfast: a critical perfectionist working (only) for his music. Here, it is a small world with failure and without spectacle: every trivial detail counts and appears all the more interesting. Several months after these recording sessions Woolf suddenly suffered a serious physical breakdown and almost died. But now he is already working on his musical comeback.
