The Healer between the Worlds

This documentary shows the shaman Dr. Valentin Hampejs at work in the Venezuelan Andes. During his clinical activities in various hospitals in Germany and Austria, Dr. Valentin Hampejs, neurologist and psychiatrist, was confronted by what he saw as the inefficiency of conventional methods of treatment. He began to look for an alternative, which he eventually found in South American shamanism. The film gives an easily understandable and fascinating insight into the intellectual world of shamanism. It also shows images that convey the intensity of its nocturnal rituals and daytime hikes.
