Synopsis
A woman. A mother. A ceramic artist. A determined supporter of the off-grid lifestyle. Yet, instead of waving posters on Fridays for Future, this German has chosen to habitate a self-built 16-square-meter cabin on a hill in the Southern Estonian countryside with no electricity, no central heating or running water.
In the winter, Hilda Ha uses a sled to drag water cans, damp laundry, as well as her child up the hill and her solar panels are not powerful enough to get lamplight. Despite all that she would not exchange her life for one in a fully equipped apartment. Where’s the challenge in that? She is proud of her inverted financial freedom: no utility bills, no mortgage – no need to work nine to five.
