Synopsis
Derzhprom, the house of state industry slumbers in eastern Ukrainian Kharkiv. Built between 1925 and 1928 in the style of constructivism, it was intended to embody the idea of communism. The building quickly became the symbol of a New Society, inspiring many avantgardists - Mayakovsky, Eisenstein, Rodchenko, Dovzhenko. In a circular movement through the building, the film opens up a caleidoscope of perspectives: an aesthetic study of architecture, archival material of the construction of the building and the invasion of Soviet forces in Kharkiv, careful portraits of people working there now and aimless wanderings of two German tourists. An associative and poetic reflection on the historical possibility of building a new society.
