Synopsis

América has Alzheimer’s. While this could very easily be a metaphor in every sense of the word, it is not. At age 93, América’s grandchildren and one of their girlfriends decide to take care of her after their father is sent to jail for an alleged case of abuse and neglect. The film captures the hardships of caring for someone who cannot take care of herself yet who still experiences short periods of having a memory and has a good sense of humor. It also captures the uncertainties, arguments, daily feats and – above all – the love of these three young Mexican artists. With a strong sense of spirituality, these three grandchildren paint a moving picture that is fun at times, sad at times, and that gives a sense of hope about compassion, helplessness and love.
